The Dot Experience in Louisville, Kentucky, is the first attraction in the world to make every exhibit, image, and artifact accessible to everyone—including people who may not be able to see them. Plan to visit when the museum opens in October!

Across 28,000 square feet, each space invites interaction through braille, American Sign Language, visual descriptions, reachable zones, tactile pathways, and more. The Dot Experience is a journey into the human experience—where no artifact is off limits and no discovery is out of reach.

Exhibits that expand perspectives

  • Discover Helen Keller: a life without limits

    She didn’t overcome the system. She changed it.

    Even after a devastating 1946 fire destroyed her home and the 9/11 attacks claimed her literary archive, Helen’s legacy endures at The Dot Experience.

    Touch a replica of the water pump that sparked Helen’s discovery of language, stand beside her desk, and explore her original documents, images, and personal objects on display.

    A colorful, interactive science and technology exhibit space with families and children engaged at hands-on stations. The room features round tables, bright wall displays with phrases like 'Make it Count,' and signage encouraging creativity such as 'Make it with….' Visitors of different ages and abilities, including a person in a wheelchair, explore activities involving shapes, and buttons.

    Explore exhibits that reveal the vibrant, complex lives of people who are blind or low vision.

    Sit beside a piano once played by Stevie Wonder, trace the dots of Louis Braille’s alphabet, and discover the stories of many others who may be lesser known but continue to shape our world.
