Activity: Light and Shadow – Light and shadow surround us every day, but we rarely stop to think about how they connect or how our eyes perceive them! You’ll guide students through hands-on experiments to explore how light and shadow are formed, how the eye processes what we see, and how people who are blind or low vision experience light in unique ways. Students will also design and create their own DIY Swirly Mat, an APH product used to support children with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI), helping them understand how our brain and eyes work together to make sense of the world.
Especially great for families this event is a fun mash-up of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. The Dot Experience twist promotes and explores adaptive, inclusive STEAM education and careers and ensures everyone can envision themselves as capable scientists, engineers, and innovators, fostering a lifelong passion for discovery.
