Sessions: 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, and 1:30 PM

Activity: Decoding Braille – Guide students through an engaging, hands-on exploration of Braille, the six-dot system used by individuals who are blind or low vision to read and write letters, numbers, and even music.

This program helps students discover how written language evolved, how Braille makes reading accessible, and how it connects to literacy and communication for all. Students will explore the history of written communication over time and investigate other systems, including Hieroglyphs, Morse Code, Night Writing and Moon Type. They will learn the Braille alphabet, practice decoding and writing messages, and meet Louis Braille, the teen inventor who revolutionized reading for blind and low vision learners.
