The Dot Experience is opening October 2026

‘Most Accessible Museum’ One Step Closer to Welcoming Visitors

Louisville, Kentucky is set to become home to a landmark accessible museum as the American Printing House for the Blind prepares to open the Dot Experience on Lower Frankfort Avenue in October 2026. The attraction, now entering its final construction phase, is designed as one of the most accessible museums in the world, showcasing inclusive design and immersive storytelling. The Dot Experience will feature hands-on exhibits including a braille “factory” tour, a tactile Helen Keller archive, and items linked to figures like Helen Keller and Stevie Wonder, alongside 3D-printed artifacts visitors can touch. Leaders including Jo Haas and Jessica Minneci say the museum will redefine accessibility by allowing blind and low-vision visitors to experience exhibits independently through inclusive design.
