We envision a more inclusive future—so we’re building it. And you can, too.

Opening October 2026!

More than a museum, The Dot Experience in Louisville, Kentucky, is a space that brings to light the lived experiences of people who are blind or low vision—urging us to reckon with a world built on exclusion.

Centered on the daily realities, contributions, and impact of real people, the experience invites visitors to recognize a simple, yet complex, truth: everyone encounters the world differently.

What we do with that awareness changes everything.

A journey into what it means to be human

The Dot Experience marks a new chapter in American Printing House’s (APH) more than 165 years of history by bringing 28,000 square feet of barrier-free, immersive exhibition space to life. Designed to be the most inclusive museum in the world, here, we imagine a future without barriers, where every person is able to reach their fullest potential.

It’s a journey into what it means to be human, driven by the mission to change perspectives about blindness and inspire action toward a world that welcomes everyone.

Designed to include what’s often overlooked

At The Dot Experience, every detail is designed to challenge assumptions and change perspectives about blindness and disability.

What you experience here will be personal—maybe even transformative. And when you leave, you just might be compelled to carry that shift into the world.

Inclusion in every detail

From the very first sketch, The Dot Experience has been designed with—not just for—people of all abilities. Led by APH’s Inclusive Prototyping Team, the museum has been shaped by the voices and perspectives of individuals who are blind, low vision, Deafblind, neurodiverse, wheelchair users, guide-dog users, and more. The outcome? A space built for independent exploration, where every visitor can choose their own path and do so freely.

Because no one should have to adapt to exclusion

Nearly 89 million people in the U.S. live with a disability, of which, 7 million experience vision loss. Many people who experience blindness or low vision will say their lack of sight is not a limitation—it’s the barriers society creates through low expectations and physical environments that often exclude them.

As humans, we all share the responsibility to notice barriers, challenge biases, and create spaces where everyone belongs. As you explore The Dot Experience, and after you leave, we invite you to:

Come curious. Leave empowered.

From daily challenges to quiet victories and from barriers to breakthroughs, The Dot Experience invites you to step inside the lived experiences of people who are blind or low vision—and consider how together, we can catalyze change.
